Flash! The “Headmaster” Takes A Bow: Justus Esiri Dies

Veteran actor, Justus Esir has been reported dead throwing the Nigerian entertainment industry into another tragedy mood, barely a week after the shocking passing of Goldie Harvey who died last Thursday.

Esiri, famous for his role in the ever popular African TV series, The Village Headmaster where he played the “Headmaster” died last night.

Justus Esiri attended Urohobo College and later went to Germany to study engineering where he developed an interest for theatre. Thus he began his acting career on stage in Germany.

He was the only Nigerian male performing on stage in the years 1968/69. He also worked for voice of Nigeria VON, German Service as a translator.

He was performing on stage in Germany when a delegation from Nigeria invited him to perform in Nigeria in a Government sponsored program, when he went to Nigeria, his homeland, he never went back to Europe, and eventually made his mark in Nigeria’s Entertainment industry taking on performances in several notable movies.

Justus Esiri is the father of popular pop star, Dr. Sid.

  4. What a colossal loss! He was a good man as far as his contribution to his chosen field. Reading his bio, I understand now why he was so good: he had formal training in theatre. Truly, some of our best actors had a foundation in Stage.
