Flash: Provide Alternative To Amnesty For Boko Haram – ACF To Jonathan

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Thursday rose from an emergency joint meeting in Kaduna, urging President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to provide an alternative to amnesty in order to end Boko Haram insurgency.

A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of its Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee members chaired by Alhaji Aliko Mohammed said since the president has totally rejected amnesty for the sect he should provide an alternative.

The meeting, according to the communiqué, centred mainly on the escalating security challenges across some parts of the north and the increasing toll in human lives and properties.

“The emergency joint meeting felt very concerned about the seeming inability of the authority to bring the unfortunate situation under control, especially the total rejection of calls for amnesty to the insurgents without offering any viable alternative course of action”, it said.

The communiqué signed by its National Publicity Secretary Anthony Sani said “all its patrons and all northern leaders across faiths and irrespective of political divides must come together and live up to their collective security challenges that have become serious threats to the socio economic and political development of not only the north but also of the entire nation”.
