Four soldiers were shot dead by unknown gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram insurgents in Potikum the Yobe State capital on Wednesday, around 10:30am.
The attackers rode on a tricycle and shot at the security operatives; two died on the spot. The gunmen however escaped as residents chased after them.
The military claimed it has destroyed several camps of the insurgents including the Sambisa Game reserve in Borno state since President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency a fortnight ago in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states.
