Men of the Nigerian Army posted to Ekiti border towns for security purposes now collect bribe, and forcefully too from motorists particularly commercial vehicle drivers).
On my to Lagos from Ado this morning, a scene I witnessed at Ita-Ure/Okemesi junction axis confirmed this. A bus driver gave N100 to a Soldier. It was also gathered that any driver who refuses to part with the usual sum or in any way try to challenge them for taking bribes will be punished mercilessly and delayed.
We hereby call on the Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen O.A. Ihejirika (CFR) to promptly check this excesses and save Ekiti People, and by extension our nation from this exploitation and harassment.
