Bolivia and Paraguay secured promotion to Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Americas Zone Group II after winning play-off ties against Costa Rica and Bahamas respectively.
Both teams had been in Pool A in the round robin stage and before the draw had looked like promotion contenders.
The doubles rubber was not required in either encounter with the outcome resolved after the singles matches.
It was the Bolivians who celebrated first, with champagne included, after sealing victory in just over two hours.
Federico Zeballos defeated Maurizio Feoli 61 61 before Hugo Dellien saw off Allan Reiffer 64 63.
Then it was Paraguay’s turn. The ‘Guaranis’ inflicted a first defeat upon Bahamas this week with a 2-0 win. Juan Carlos Ramirez bounced back from a first set deficit to defeat Marvin Rolle 46 64 64.
Next Juan Borba, a Davis Cup debutant, overcame a good display by Devin Mullings to win 46 64 63 and give Paraguay the win.
In the other play-off matches, Honduras finished fifth with a 3-0 win against Jamaica and Cuba won their first tie of the week against Panama to take seventh place.
